1. How to request deletion
- Send an email to contact@urbangate.in with the subject Delete my UrbanGate account.
- In the email, give the mobile number you sign in with, your name and your society and flat. Do not send passwords, card numbers or ID documents.
- We reply to confirm that the request is from you. We may ask you to confirm with a one-time code sent to your registered number.
- We delete or anonymise your data and tell you when it is done.
How long it takes. We aim to complete a verified request within 30 days. Copies in backups are overwritten on their normal cycle.
2. What we delete
- Your name, mobile number, profile details and language setting.
- Your device and notification tokens, so alerts stop reaching your phone.
- Your links to society, flat, household and vehicles, where the society does not need them for its records.
- Photos and files you uploaded, such as complaint attachments, that are not needed for a record the society must keep.
- Your sign-in. You will no longer be able to log in with that number until a society adds you again.
3. What we may keep, and why
Some records belong to your society and exist so that it can account for money and keep people safe. We keep these only as long as they are needed, and where possible we remove your name and contact details from them.
| Record | Why it may stay |
|---|---|
| Maintenance bills, approved payments and receipts | The society's accounts must stay complete and correct. A payment is reversed, never erased. |
| Visitor entries, SOS records and guard task records | Security and safety history of the society. |
| Audit log of approvals and changes | To show who approved or changed what. |
| Data we must keep by law | For example, to answer a lawful request or to protect or defend legal claims. |
4. Before you ask
- Download receipts you need. Receipts are kept in the app, so save the ones you want first.
- Clear any dues. Deleting your account does not cancel what is owed to your society.
- If you are a committee member or the only admin, tell your society so that someone else takes over its administration.
- If you only want to stop alerts, you can switch off notifications in your phone's settings or sign out, without deleting anything.
5. If you only want to leave a society
If you have moved out or want your flat link removed but you still live in or work for another society, ask your society office to remove you from your old society. Your login and your other societies stay as they are.
6. After deletion
We send you a confirmation by email. You can join a society again later: the society office adds you and you sign in with a new one-time code. Past records that had to be kept do not come back to your profile.
7. Help
